Mai grew up not knowing the meaning of hard work, with needle work and looking good her most important rolls. When she was 7 she was kidnapped and held for ransom and her furious father attempted to trick and capture her kidnapers. One of the kidnappers in his anger thrust his sword into her side as a great battle drew to a close between the kidnappers and Mai’s fathers’ men. Her mother was a clergywoman and as she lay at deaths door for many days prayed for her night and day asking her god for the mercy to grant her life. During this time at deaths door she found her soul in another plane, where she met her “Oppa” who was worried for her safety in such a dangerous place. “Oppa” showed her many of the wonders of his world and made sure that she came to no harm while she was there. All of a sudden she left that plane and woke up in her home with the life that her mother and worked so hard for. About a year after this her mother was found dead, mysteriously murdered, the culprit was never found. Mai’s father became very protective, never allowing her to leave home without a heavy guard and Mai become very quiet and secluded. She hated being alone but would hardly say a word even if she was alone. Then she fell in love, with a young knight charged with protecting her. It was a sweet relationship that helped draw her out of the shell that she had built around herself, but her father did not approve and soon had the knight sent away to fight a dragon of a far off land and he wasn’t seen again. In her anger at her father’s actions she declared she was no longer a part of the Inlu family and left in anger. Her father sent many people out looking for her but could not find her anyway in the land. The reason for this is that she had connected to her jenni heritage and with its manifestation it had changed her appearance some, giving her beautiful markings of the jenni kind that had not been there before. Soon after this she met a young fortune teller that told her that her destiny was heavily intertwined with a man with long dark hair and her thoughts turned back to the “Oppa” she had met when she was young. With hard study and work as a scribe she lived and then one day she managed to summon her “Oppa”. With surprise the “Oppa” asked how she had got him there and as she shared her story he was heavily moved that she remembered him after all that time. His desire to protect her still flowed in his blood and he vowed to be her protector for as long as she lived.
